Tap into your Creative Play

Kick-start Your New Year 2026 with Gav Barbey

Creative Play — Serious Art is a 6-week intensive, hands-on workshop exploring creativity as a living, embodied practice. Working across multiple art forms, participants develop a deeper relationship to their creative language and a clearer understanding of the choices they make when imagining, expressing, and producing work.

Designed for all experience levels, this workshop offers personalised guidance within a dynamic, non-judgemental, and supportive studio environment. Whether beginning or deepening a practice, the emphasis is on curiosity, experimentation, and serious play.

Where do you start? With YES

Through metaphysical inquiry and physical engagement, we explore felt senses and raw, elemental materials as doorways into expression. This course is not outcome-driven; it invites experimentation, fascination, and presence.

Across the 6 weeks, we cultivate an approach that is immediate, responsive, fresh, and inquisitive through guided exercises, experimentation, playful inquiry, and reflection.

Creative Play — Serious Art asks:

• Can we take our expression seriously while opening to joy?
• Can we play with fear rather than be ruled by it?
• Can we learn techniques while daring to truly see, feel, and express what we perceive?
• What happens when we release fixed ideas of style and allow form, colour, movement, and sensation to unfold?

A space for embodied creativity

This is a space to expand creative expression through a somatic lens, where imagination is embodied and marks are laid as lived experience.

“We do not lack creativity — we lack the availability to play.”

What the workshop offers

• Somatic opening practices to awaken curiosity and embodied awareness
• Guided explorations using drawing, painting, sculpture, writing, movement, and sensory play
• Independent studio time with mentoring and one-on-one guidance
• Experimental practice focusing on flow, movement, and aliveness
